Discussion:
[JBookTrader] Current project status

Dear all,
I am wondering: as google code is going to shut down: what is the status by
Eugene - what will happen with the project?
This question is also reinforced by the fact that not a lot happened since
more than a year?
- Is the project seen as finished?
Or is it still seen as an ongoing thing, albeit with little activity?

Just curious...

Cheers
Klaus

PS: JBT is a great piece of work. It would be a shame if it would die..

Actually, I am rewriting the JBT now. It will support candle data and
portfolio for securities with connections to different exchanges, even to
different countries.

Hello JBTers,

JBT is alive and well. About 2 years ago, it became part of a commercial
platform, and I had been working on that commercial platform ever since.
Unfortunately, this means that I can no longer work on the open source
version, as I am bound by the nondisclosure agreement.

I do plan to move the open source from Google code to GitHub. From there
on, hopefully you guys can take over. The open source is in good shape, and
is stable. There is always room for improvement, of course.

Thank you for your participation in this project through the years,
Eugene Kononov, JBookTrader founder.

Hi Eugene,

It's nice to see you show up after you declared to work for a commercial
platform.

JBT is a very good starting point for a Java trading system. I learned a
lot from your code. However, I am interested in a much more general Java
trading system.

Let me know if need my help on JBT.

Thanks.

support any time period of candle data.
For charting, any time period in candle data is already supported. Take a
look at com.jbooktrader.platform.chart.BarSize

With regards to the number of securities, there is no limit in JBT, so I am
not sure what you are looking for.

In each portfolio, there is only one security in JBT although it may have
any number of portfolios.

For candles, current candle comes from book data of snapshot, which is not
a real candle since it may miss lots of data. On the other hand, if someone
wants to develop a strategy by daily data and uses 10 years(or more) data
to do back testing, then current book data is far too huge to handle and
not necessary.
